Nautical chart

Mandeville is up in the Sacramento Delta about 10 miles West of Stockton and has been Ephemerisle's home for every year except two. Almost all of the boats have anchored to the East side of the island.

Anchoring

The area is characterized by an underwater hill covered in reeds and grass that makes it very challenging to solidly set anchors.

The deep water channels are free of undergrowth and you can solidly set anchors in the mud, but they also have currents that rip through them and the force has damaged boats in large raftups in the past.
